FAQ

1. What languages are supported?

We translate between German and English in both directions only.

2. What is the turnaround time for translations?

The translation period depends on three factors:

The length of the text
The difficulty level - technical, is research necessary etc.
The format in which the translation is to be completed - WinWord, PowerPoint, FrontPage etc.

As a general rule, an experienced translator can usually render approx. 2000 words per day.

3. What is the cost of translation? Is there a volume discount?
Translation is charged in Euros. Our prices start at Euro 1.10 per line (a line consists of 55 key strokes incl. empty spaces DIN standard). Of course, translation of simple everyday texts costs less than more challenging technical text. Bulk discounts can be arranged depending on the amount of work involved. For more details please refer to our pricing page here.

4. What are the answering protocols? What is the procedure by which messages are submitted, translated, and returned?
We are able to read texts arriving by post, fax and e-mail (WinWord, html, PowerPoint, FrontPage, Excel, PDF, or text copied and pasted into the mail itself). We prefer to return texts as WinWord files, but we are flexible and can usually accommodate customers’ requirements.

5. What is the billing method of your service?
We provide our customers with e-mail invoicing and accept payment by credit card (Visa, MasterCard), direct bank transfer or a banker’s check within 14 days of the invoicing date. For ongoing monthly orders, monthly accounts can be arranged.

6. Describe the technical fluency of your translators? Are they experienced in translating technical terminology?
Each and every industry has its own technical terminology (register). For industry insiders, this register is learned over several years and becomes an integral part of their language use. This area poses the greatest challenge for translators. Words that at first sight seem familiar (friends) may have a completely different meaning. All our translators have their own individual strengths.

7. Where is the translation service performed? Onsite or with external contractors?
The majority of our translations are rendered onsite, but we do use a small circle of external freelances.

8. What are the qualifications of your translators? What is their educational background? Are they students or professionals?
All our translators are fulltime native-speaking professionals. Translation is always rendered into the translator’s native tongue.

9. What are the aspects of your service that you consider unique or unequalled?
Unlike most of our competitors, we translate between English and German only. This enables us to be in constant control of translation quality.
